Establishment
The Vihiga County Assembly Speaker’s Office is established pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 11 and Article 178 of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
Hon Dan C Chitwah was elected on 22nd March 2013 as the first speaker of Vihiga County Assembly.

Overview
The Secretariat of the office of the speaker is responsible for ensuring effective coordination of support services to the Speaker and other County Assembly office holders in the County Assembly. The Secretariat is established to facilitate the office in enhancing internal linkages with other departments and to also coordinate the following Assembly offices; the office of the Deputy Speaker, the office of the Leader of Majority, the office of the Leader of Minority, offices of the Whips and the Speakers panel.
The following offices exist to facilitate the smooth functioning of the speaker’s office:
1. The personal assistant to the speaker
2. Research officer
3. Senior clerk assistant/ legislative assistant
4. Protocol officer
5. Liaison office
6. Executive secretary
